Katherine O’Brien, M.S. CCC-SLP

Katherine is a Speech-Language Pathologist working in DC and Northern Virginia. Kate completed her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology at the University of the District of Columbia after obtaining an undergraduate degree in Speech and Hearing Science from The George Washington University. Kate has worked with children ages 2-18 years, in the areas of  articulation, phonology, fluency, and language. Since joining RLLC, Kate has become passionate about helping children who struggle with phonological awareness, reading, spelling, and expressive writing skills.

Kate is licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. Kate is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).

Kate is an avid Yoga practitioner. She enjoys Vinyasa Yoga most, but loves to try all types of Yoga and movement styles and spend time sharing these practices with others. She has combined this with her love for travel, having practiced Yoga while traveling in almost 20 countries worldwide, including Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Croatia, France, Iceland, Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, Hungary, Czech Republic, Costa Rica and Honduras! kate recently got engaged to her partner of 5 years, Luis, a geographer whom she met while they were both completing their undergraduate degrees. His Swiss heritage and their shared love of travel has served as inspiration for their many adventures. They are planning and looking forward to a wedding in Italy in 2021.
